You know that very well about the basic categories of washing machines, such as Semi-Automatic Washing Machine and Fully-Automatic Washing Machine. Here we are going to see the difference between the two major types and also the pros and cons of the two.
Semi-Automatic Washing Machine:
In this type of washing machine, there are two tubs, namely the washing tub and drying tub. The one tub is located next to the other tub. Here, you need to put the clothes in the washtub first for washing and then followed by transferring it to the drying tub after you turn on the dryer. Once it is dried, you can remove the clothes for drying it manually.
Advantages:
Power – When compared to the other type, this washer requires minimum power consumption as most of the tasks are manually done. Thus, you can save your electricity bill by using this washer.
Price – Most people buy this washer due to its reasonable price. You can buy most semi-automatic washing machines below 15,000 Indian rupees.
Water Usage – Since you have to pour the water manually in a semi-automatic washing machine, you can save the water consumption by pouring the right amount. Also, you don’t require any water connection to use this washer.
Disadvantages:
Wash Time – Though it requires less time to wash the clothes, you need to manually move to the drying tub, which again consumes some time. So, the time consumption is high in this type.
Wash Quality – If your clothes have stains on them, then you need to scrub them manually. If you didn’t scrub properly, then the wash quality will be poor.
Size – This is another huge disadvantage of this machine, as it occupies a wide space in your home. Because of the presence of two tubs, the machine has a bigger width.
Fully-Automatic Washing Machine:
In a fully-automatic washing machine, both the washing and drying functions are done in a single drum. All the process is automatic here; you don’t need to add water or scrub the clothes for a quality wash. This machine is again classified into two types, such as the top-load washer and front-load washer.
Advantages:
Wash Time – Both the washing and drying did faster in a fully-automatic washer, even though the wash cycles are somewhat longer.
Wash Quality – Most people buy this machine due to its great wash quality. The machine automatically scrubs and washes the clothes by removing the stains.
Size – To save the space in your home, it is highly recommended to go with a fully-automatic washer. In addition to saving space in your house, it is easy to carry or move around.
Disadvantages:
Power – As all the processes are automatic here, the power consumption is quite high. Though the power consumption is high in these models, you can prefer the front-load washers for its power efficiency.
Water Usage – Water consumption is quite high here, as it takes the water automatically itself for washing.
Price – These models of the washing machine are more expensive but worth to buy them for their better features and quality wash.
Thus, both types have their pros and cons. It is better to go with a semi-automatic washer if you have a low budget. Otherwise, the best option is a fully-automatic washing machine, which requires less manual work from you.
