In today’s day and age, tiles are indeed one of the popular flooring solutions that you can find on the market. A tile is defined as a thin object, which is usually rectangular or square-shaped. It is manufactured using materials such as stone, ceramic, baked clay and the like. Tiles are not only used to cover floors but also walls and roofs. There will also be times when you’ll find tiles that are made out of materials such as mineral wood, perlite and natural wood – used mainly for ceilings or walls.

Apart from being durable and robust, tiles also provide a classy look to your home. They are relatively easy to maintain and does come in a wide variety of designs & colours to choose from. Keeping the same in consciousness, we are sharing some of the vital factors that you should be keeping in mind when carrying out the tiling procedure.

Factors to Consider During the Tiling Procedure

1. Hollowness of a Tile

One of the essential factors that you need to keep in mind while the tiling process continues is to ensure that all the tiles are correctly laid. After the tile-laying process has been completed, each tile should be randomly tapped with the help of a specialised mallet to check whether there is any weird sound coming is coming underneath the tiles.

2. Warping of a Tile during tiling

Warping of a tile is defined by the expansion of tile slab, resulting in the tile not staying even with the floor. Therefore, to avoid such a problem during tiling, you need to ensure that the tiles that are laid stay flush with each other, and there should be no unevenness between them.

3. Joints Between the Tiles

It should be realised that the tile joints should be made uniform and equal distance should be maintained from the surrounding tiles. In that way, a perfect-looking tiling process could be carried out.

4. Tile Grouting during tiling process

You must remember that the joints between the tiles should be appropriately filled with the cementing material that your tile contractor will be using. There should be no gaps or any colour variations in the grouting materials that are being used during tiling process.

5. Tile Sloping

Tile sloping is a vital feature that should not be overlooked when laying down the tiles. In dry areas, tiles should be laid down without any sloping. However, when it comes to wet areas, tiles should be laid with enough sloping for water to pass. For instance, places such as the balcony or bathroom, tiles should be laid down with some amount of slope so that that water can flow efficiently without any issues.
